Re: BBC Watchdog survey of ISPs
Another survey with a self selecting sample.
Watchdog should get lots of respondents with
an axe to grind.
They don't even ask for the respondents'
name and address.
Has the industry, the BBC, or even one ISP,
commissioned a scientific piece of market research?
My Max.

Re: BBC Watchdog survey of ISPs
Why exactly are they picking out Sky? Sure there are problems but there are far worse ISP's out there why don't they pick on Tiscali for instance? Could it be that Sky are a big company owned by Rupert Murdoch etc well known controversial media magnate and hence makes good television?

Re: BBC Watchdog survey of ISPs
They are not! It is a surrey of all ISP's, you select your provider from a drop down box then rate each part of there service 1 to 5 by ticking box's, i.e Value for money / Customer Service / Reliability etc, I filled it in last night, I gave customer service the worst rating and value the best rating, the rest were in between.
Results should be interesting, TalkTalk seemed to be getting a right slatting last night still.

Re: BBC Watchdog survey of ISPs
Actually reading the survey questions etc, there is no controls over it, IE you could vote multiple times - this is going to lead to a useless survey in reality, or severely flawed in its results.
They could have at least made you give an email address etc.~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~

Maybe this report, by BBCi on research from Point Topic is it?

Re: BBC Watchdog survey of ISPs
The Point Topic research looks much better than
anything Watchdog will produce.
Point Topic is a valid piece of research and should
be of concern to all ISPs.
The year on year trend is the important thing.
The fast growth and fight for market share, without
the correct customer care back up, is the real problem.
Luckily for me, Sky BB Max has been almost faultless
and better than any broadband I have had before.
You can however do some clever things with lies,
damned lies and statistics.
Example: the BBC report says:
“14% of Sky broadband users were very or fairly
dissatisfied with the service on offer.” -bbci
Or using the same figures I say:
"86% of Sky BB customers were very
satisfied, fairly satisfied or
neither satisfied or dissatisfied"– murdock
And the actual number(not percentages) of dissatisfied
customers is likely to be much greater with other ISPs
because at the moment Sky has such a small broadband
market share.Last edited by murdock; 05-03-07 at 12:35 PM. Reason: typo and new para
