New enhancements on SkyUser Speed Tester
Once again SimpleRules has come to the rescue and made some changes to our SkyUser Speed Tester
If you are on a Sky Broadband Connection, it should now detect and then ask what Package you are on after you have completed the test.
The tester will then give you a guide as to how your test has performed, as an average upload and download for that particular package. This is then recorded into the database and recorded at the bottom of the results page.
This should hopefully give potential customers and existing ones, the average of how their chosen package performs on Sky Broadband.
Thanks to the suggestions for this implementation and we welcome any others that can improve your experience here on SkyUser.~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~

Re: New enhancements on SkyUser Speed Tester
Just tried it
Your download speed is 3184Kbps. That is 264Kbps below the average for your package
Your upload speed is 332Kbps. That is 1Kbps below the average for your package

Re: New enhancements on SkyUser Speed Tester
It will need a few tests taken to give a proper average, but I think its a great addition.
And it will give a better picture of how the Packages actually perform. So feel free to hammer it. But remember it will only record your result after a 10 minute period has elapsed from your previous one.~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~

Re: New enhancements on SkyUser Speed Tester
Well sort of (yes, I know, I'm a miserable pedant
)
It will give a good indication for upload but not for download - the download result will be more a picture of whether the customer has chosen the "right" package for their line condition e.g. if I had a long line which could only ever support 2500kbps and I bought Max, then a 2000kbps speedtest result would be absolutely fine. If the speedtest told me however that this was 8000kbps less than the average for Max, and I didn't know why, then I might be rather annoyed.
With upload however, just about everyone gets the maximum for their package irrespective of the line so the result will be more informative.

Re: New enhancements on SkyUser Speed Tester
@ Blondejon - No idea why you have such a discrepancy on ours
@ Sarturday, yes I agree, however the old speedtester gave Sky an average of 4368 Kbps down speed, which was the average of all speeds tested. This way I feel is better as an indication, as analysing the results a couple of weeks ago, the average speed for Max was approx 10Mb, and so offers a more comprehensive analysis. But, yes you are a miserable pedant~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~

Erm, No idea if the speed tester is under a bit of strain at the moment, but it's really off for me right now.
