Playing Devils Advocate here.....
Are the sites strictly "illegal" as there are benefits to them as per Linux distros etc?

Re: A warning about p2p invites
SatDish, Perhaps you should also mention that we should not post links to these sorts of sites either? Regardless of asking for invites or not?

Re: A warning about p2p invites
To be honest, whilst there may be "some" legal fiiles on these sites, the majority will not be.
Many Linux sites will no doubt have torrent files to download instead of using private sites.
Plus you get the added saftey that you know that the files wouldn't have been tampered with - cos there are virii out there for Linux!!
Anyway, totally agree with the stance of Satdish and Newsreader on this, if you want to sign up for these sites it is possible, you just need to try (but remember that they are illegal and we will find you)
Oop's I mean they...

Re: A warning about p2p invites
Although that there are legal uses of p2p distribution, BBC iplayer, World Of Warcraft patch distribution, Xbox Live etc the FBI estimates that 90% of all p2p traffic is illegal in one way or another.
Add to the fact that 60% of daytime internet traffic and 90% of night time internet traffic is now p2p filesharing that's a lot of illegal activity going on.
Also the ISP's are getting worried as they pay for bandwidth used, p2p is putting a serious dent into their profit margins, yet FUP's are increasing the bandwidth given out with a package and I don't think any of us would go to the situation of paying per gig used.
Anyways well done guys and I hope you can keep up with all the posts that get put on here.

Re: A warning about p2p invites
I would personally think it best not to post links to P2P sites... could be seen as facilitating copyright infringement.
