Working 3rd party router connection changed from VC-MUX to LLC
I'm using Asus DSL AC 68u with merlin and my switch from BT date was the beginning of June 2020,
From taking the information contained in the supplied Hub. it's been happily doing it's job in maintaining a solid ADSL connection for 26 day's,
7.6 on the down and .8 on the up, enough for our needs as it's been rock solid and reliable at that,
But today it then stopped working ??????
I've gone through everything only to fine I'm now on a local loop, not VC-MUX,
Fair enough, I've reset to get up and running only to now find I can't even get connection unless I'm pointing to sky's DNS,
Speed has also dropped to 5.5 down and .5 up,
But it's a little wobbly in comparison,
So I'm left unable to point to my choice of DNS,
is this normal ?? Is there any other options, I'm now in new territory having never had this before,
If you have any idea or questions please post a reply
Ja

Re: Working 3rd party router connection changed from VC-MUX to LLC
:::::::update::::::
worked it out
I'd gone from an ADSL+2 - ADSL Extension onto a standard ADSL - Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line line,
with the distance from the Exchange, There's not a big difference in connection speed
But I still can't work out why I'm unable to choose my own DNS

Re: Working 3rd party router connection changed from VC-MUX to LLC
If you specify the server for an nslookup do you get the correct results?
nslookup skyuser.co.uk 8.8.8.8
Server: 8.8.8.8
Address: 8.8.8.8#53
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: skyuser.co.uk
Address: 77.240.11.51

Re: Working 3rd party router connection changed from VC-MUX to LLC
thanks for the reply, yes i've managed to get the connection again using 8.8.8.8 with second at 8.8.4.4 google, that gives info but how strange both Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 i was on suddenly stopped, as to why that does not give any response at all is a bit odd,
so that's an odd one I've now pointed around and settled with OpenDNSPrimary, secondary DNS servers: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220, to what seams to be better so far, again thanks for reply and hope this help's if anyone else is having issues
