What is inside the SKY new HUB SR101, disassemble SR101
Here, my second post, I gonna give some very exciting topics. One of them is to disassemble the SR101. Hope I am the number one to show what is inside of SR101.
Red arrows are plastic fasteners, "S" indicates screws
Have first look:
Open SR101 howto:
Taking out the PSU:
The integrated PSU:
First looking at the Main Board:
The Main board of SR101:
Some pin headers on the board, it might be the JTAG and TTL console port...
A heatsink on the top of chipset (a SoC solution, with ADSL Router WiFi, BGA package), and glued. I have no idea to get it down...
As a result, I do not know the type of the chip...
What I can see are the RAM and FLASH chip...
RAM: SAMSUNG K4T1G164QF-BCE7
FLASH:Spansion FL128SAIH30

Thank you for doing that.
I didn't complete taking mine apart as the plastic lugs inside were too easy to break and I'd like to continue using it as a part of the beta group.
I've promoted it as an article too.

P.S. The WiFi chipset is mentioned in the article that lists the specifications for Sky Hub SR101.

Re: What is inside the SKY new HUB SR101, disassemble SR101
if someone really interested in hacking the router, there are some references from openwrt http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/hardware...oadcom.bcm63xx
Since we can see something like busybox in the system log of the router, it might be running a linux.
now I am trying to find out the TTL and JTAG, so I can see which kind of cfe (the bootload) it using. If we can change the firmware, we can have more setting options of the router.

I think the pictures confirm that the router was specially designed and built for Sky, unlike the previous models which were just rebadged existing routers.

Could you fit a high gain antenna to this?

You are more than welcome to give this a try Lee. However please note my comments about the lugs in post #2.

Is the internal antenna on a plug and socket arrangement on the PCB? I could not see anything in the photos.

Oh, I can see them. There seems to be 2
So I would need 2 9db antennas?
Thanks.

I can't say what you can use as I didn't completely take mine apart. The lugs holding the main board were too easy to break.
Also at the moment no one else has reported back on this. So if you could make some notes as you do this, we would all be grateful to know how you get on.
