      Sagam Router dropping connection

      Hi,

      I've recently joined sky broadband.

Previously i was with aol and had no issues what so ever....now though i cannot keep a connection for long. Trying to update my iphone or download anything has now become an impossibility.

I have contacted sky and to be honest their advice is basic and pretty poor.

It has now been passed further up the line.

Is there anything i can try?? Is this a common fault?

      Thanks

The Sagem 2304n has issues. It's all over this forum. What router were you using with AOL? You might be able to use it with sky.

Could we cover some basics first please?

Just in case there is another issue, could you post your router stats from your test socket please? Could you include the uptime for the router too in the stats.

      Re: Sagem Router dropping connection

      Many thanks for the stats.

They indicate that you should be able to get up to a maximum of 4Mb on your line, using the tool on this site. However your noise margin is pretty close to Sky's target figure of 7dB so it is unlikely to improve much at present.

It may be worth getting your line change to ADSL (aka G.DMT). Your line is quite long and other members have benefited from having their lines changed when they are as long.

Keep an eye on the disconnections though. I would look at the actual router stats to see if the WAN time has restarted or the WLAN time. It is also important to look at the WiFi signal. I've just posted a new thread asking for help on this particular issue, which is not a line fault, but a router issue.

      Re: Sagam Router dropping connection

tapperb31, im on g.dmt and i get just over 3mb d/load speed, like you im on a long line 57.7dB, im also connected to master socket with an adsl filterplate, so its was worth me ringing sky, to change over as my connection is now much more stable
