      Max delays reduced, No differance...

      Hey,

I phoned up Sky yesterday and finally got my 'Max delays' changed to 8ms.

I told the guy that i had high ping times and id like my max delays lowered.
He said he'd changed them to 8ms which is practically nothing and would help cut ping times.

He said to keep an eye on my connection over the week.

I've checked my pings by pingtest.net & comnd promt and i dont see any differance.

How can i tell hes done it, because it was the fastest call id made to sky if i dont include the other calls to people who didin't have a clue what i was going on about?

And why did he ask me to keep an eye on my connection?

      Thanks, Much apreciated!

Your downstream delay is 16ms - ring and get it set to 8ms.

Re: Max delays reduced, No differance...

just a head up when u call u cld try asking tier 1 if they no what it is some tier 1 people have the ability to change max delays and others have people in the same call centre with the ability to change it

might save u a bit of time in a CST que

Update even if tier1 are able to change it they might be loosing it soon hopefully with any luck you will get through to 1 that does before that happens

Re: Max delays reduced, No differance...

I got through to a Tier 1 agent who had the option - he gladly changed the setting from 16ms to 8 ms apparently. I'll double check in an hour if this has made a difference for me.

Re: Max delays reduced, No differance...

OP - you appear to be on Gdmt - a move to ADSL2+ could see an increase in downstream speed to 12-14mb/s
