Extracting the Sagem F@ST 2504 Firmware from an IMG file

      Hi!

Backstory (skip me if you wish):
We moved from O2 to Sky and as such, we got given a Sagem F@ST router. Not a particularly bad router (signal range e.g. seems than the SpeedTouch's) but, for me, it has a problem in which its Wi-Fi performance will become sporadically decreased - and I can only get it back to its former performance by changing the channel it broadcasts on.

Being the lazy person that I am, I'd rather get this done through Telnet Scripting Tool instead of bringing up the Web interface each time. One problem: Sky disables telnet on their routers. James67's modified firmware re-enables it, but the last version of his modified firmware was based on 1.5, I believe; I'm running version 1.9 and, from what I can tell from posts here and there, Sky seem to be pretty anal about the routers and firmwares in use.

My eventual plan is to extract the firmware, make the changes required to enable telnet and build a new image.

      How to extract:
This was done on a Ubuntu 10.10 system with build-essential installed.

      Code:
      svn checkout http://firmware-mod-kit.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ firmware-mod-kit-read-only # -r 164
#Save, extract and apply the patch attached
      Run extract-firmware.sh, from the folder where it's stored: ./extract-firmware.sh <IMG file> <destdir>
      How to build:

This, unfortunately, is where I get stuck. Sagem have not complied with the GPL and released their source. It's possible to use the tools found in other BCM6348-utilizing routers' source tarballs to do so but until I either buy another Sagem router off eBay or find my old DG834GT, I'm not willing to potentionally brick the only router I have at the moment.
