      Sync speed wont budge

      Hi
      can anyone help, I have recently received a new sky router as the old one packed in it's a Netgear whereas the old one was a Sagem, it appears to be working fine but I can't get it to sink any higer than 4744 in fact I can't get it to sink at anything other than 4744 up & 606 down.
      I dont think this is completely to do with the new router as my sink speed has been dropping gradually for some time now, when I first signed up to sky about 2 years ago I could sync at around 6000 or just under.
      I notice my noise margin's have come up somewhat they are now at 11db down &15 db up where as after a reboot in the good old days the router would sync around 6000 with a noise margin of around 7db down Also my upload sync is much higer at 606 once over it would only be around 300 -400.
      Is there any way I can get the Router to resync with a better connection speed ie get the noise margin nearer 6db & increase my speed. or is this possibly something to do with DLM or even exchange Contention. ( I should just say I never had any connect/disconnect problems before or now only speed issue's)
      Any feed back is much appreciated.

      If you have a test socket, post them again from there.

      There is a chance that DLM has ran on your line and has capped you which is why your NM is 11db. To get this altered you will need to ring Sky and speak to CST. You may also find that GDMT is better for your line as it is quite long, get them to test this too.

      Ok here's stats plugged into test socket, dont know if it make's a difference but it might be worth mentioning that I use an ADSL Nation faceplate

      That noise margin figure varies between 3&7 db

      That is a big drop in noise margin from the first post with the stats, you may have a problem with your external line.

      Another REIN problem perhaps? What's the betting that noise margin will jump back up again during daylight hours.

      Have you checked for any noise on your line?

      Plug a normal touch tone phone directly into the BT Test socket.

      Dial 17070, press option 2 (quiet line test)

      You should hear 'Quiet Line Test' and then silence, there should be no pops, clicks, whistles, buzzing etc. If there is noise on the line, make sure it's not your phones connection to the socket (wiggle it about a bit) and that you are using the Test socket. If you are sure its the line making the noise then dial BT or Sky if you have there line rental and report the fault
