okay, so you need to download a FW from Support Page which i assume you have done. The download is an IMG file.

You need to get the router into recovery mode by powering OFF the router and holding a pin in the resest hole, power the router back on. The lights should now flash alternately.

Now following the instructions here to update the router with the new FW. Untitled Document

The update must be done on an XP pc with a WIRED connection.

The update isn't stable and sometime you have to try another XP pc to be able to do it.

yep, another PC is needed. I had that same problem, got me work laptop out and used that and it was fine.
