What does this firmware provide that the standard sky (or netgear) firmware provides?

Everything, plus being able to tweak your speed, much more reliable and NAT-Loopback. And Telnet doesn't have a username/password on it.

      Re: Unofficial firmware for DG384GT

I have just updated my router with this firmware, about two hours ago, will see how it performs over the next few days. Target SNR setting is built in so don't have to use any external utility such as "DMT".

My reason for trying this out is because of the problems I am having with the sky firmware in the router.

      See this..

Could you be a bit more specific please? (The current Sky firmware doesn't have a user name and password either, BTW.)

      Re: Unofficial firmware for DG384GT

This Firmware add the following menus to the Web Interface:

Basic Settings - This Where the username and Password are for the connection.
      ADSL Settings -
      Advanced ADSL settings:

This page lets you configure ADSL channel physical parameters. Unsuggested usage to non-expert users.

      * Modulation: the ADSL protocol at which the router will connect .
      * Target SNR percentage: changing this will affect your line stability and speed. the more SNR the more stability but less speed, and vice versa.
      * Seamless Rate Adaptation: if supported by your ISP this *should* adapt your line rate during the day withouth causing disconnections.
      * Bitswap: if supported by your ISP, this should improve line stability by dinamically changing bytes tone allocation.
      * Trellis: increases the modulation efficiency and thus line speed, by applying Trellis modulation scheme.

Telnet settings: Enable of Disable Telnet
      Nat Loopback

      Re: Unofficial firmware for DG384GT

Thank you. Hmmm - looks like the enablement (is there such a word?) of existing functionality via the UI (apart from nat loopback). Do you know if there's any new stuff in there?
