sudden drop in speed
Hi. Can anyone help?
Download speed on my Connect package was poor ( approx 0.5mb ).
At the end of Jan the connection failed and the router had to be reset.
For the whole of Feb the connection was fine and I had fast download speeds (approx 5.5mb ).
At the begining of Mar the connection failed and the router had to be reset.
Now the download speeds are back to poor ( approx 0.5mb ).
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Are Sky at it?
They told me it's impossible for them to block certain ports, is this true?
cheers
Scott

Re: sudden drop in speed
Seems i have a fellow person with same problem as me..
Almost same story as yourself i was steady at just on 4.5 - 5MB
Now im lucky to get 2Mb ..
And thats after constant modem resets..
Really annoying as i play lot of online games ,,
And im just not bale to do this with my connection so unstable...
Very close to binning Sky...if they cannot get me any kind of steady connection...
3Mb would do me as upload is usually ok was around 650kb
Now its about 200kb..
Really wish Sky would sort this out or at least explain to people what is happening..

Re: sudden drop in speed
Sky have a fair usage policy it could be that they consider your using to much bandwith and are throttling your connection.
Just a thought

Re: sudden drop in speed
thankfully i am not alone with this very upsetting issue, sky do indeed need to sort this problem out, i too have the max package and i currently have on a regular basis only 5 meg, when i was told at the early stages that our phone line was capable of taking atleast 12 meg, i have only ever achieved around 9 meg max but that as fallen away very quickly? we are forever disonnecting the router and restarting it to get a better connection or reconnection atleast, it's a daily thing now, which is rather annoying to say the least, sort it SKY...
