Your connection speed is a little low for Mid at an attenuation of 39db. This is probably due to noise on your line (most probably internal phone wiring/extension). To check this you need to compare with a connection directly into your test socket which you will find behind the faceplate of your master socket (assuming you have an NTE5).

On a relatively noise free line you could expect a connection speed of ~8000kbps on Mid and ~11500kbps were you to move to Max.

Your noise margin is low and close to the point where surfing will get choppy and disconnections may occur. See the first sticky in my signature for two ways to deal with this. However, once you've sorted this problem, getting rid of any noise on your line should be your main priority.

      Great thanx for that.
Though my internet doesn't seem choppy ( at least to me any way) but I'll do what you say. Thanx again!

The phone wiring in this house is a mess, I mean really you dont want to go there. I'm not sure if BT can come put fresh sockets in the house, because as it stands, there is a socket in the lounge which if you opened it up it is wired to POT!! Take one wire out of that and you could knock all the sockets out of action. Was like this when we moved in. Had to take it apart once, while plastering downstairs wall, thinking it'll be a doddle to put back after wall had dried - took best part of a day!!!

If in any of your sockets you have an orange wire connected to terminal 3 you can disconnect it and it is very likely you will see an increase in speed on your internet connection. Only terminals 2 and 5 are needed.

Helpful info, my thanx to you, if I can have a little more of your time please can you have a look at these figures - I've had a little tinker, also was rebooting my router every 30mins, so have switched the upnp off.

My thanx again, - here are the figures, would appreciate it v.much!

Whatever you've done has improved things enormously.

You're now getting the maximum speed possible for Sky Mid and have a very healthy noise margin.

Re: Here Are My Stats - Can An Expert Look At Them For Me And Give Me A Verdict!

Excellent - thanx for the help on this, i'm glad it has worked. Surfing is noticably quicker at this end, even downloading emails in outlook. Also turning off upnp as I was advised seemed to have stoped this problem of having to constantly re-boot the router evey 30 mins. What I want to know now is will having upnp off affect anything i.e wireless link to laptop etc (no way of telling as missus has the l/p and she's out just now). And is this bug alleged bug in the router removable??

      Cheers,
      Nis

I use both a desktop and laptop connected wirless with file and printer sharing and have no problems at all with upnp off.
