      Re: 108.0 Mbps netgear?

      Good Morning,(No I couldn't sleep) as I understand it, the 108.0Mbps is the connection link from a PC or notebook to the router and this affects the strength of the signal received from the router, it does not affect your connection speed or download and upload speeds on the internet.

      You can post your stats on this forum if you are unclear or need some advice
      192.168.0.1 using Sky and Admin and then go to Router Status and scroll to the bottom of the page and go to Show statistics.

      Yup, that's your signal strength, here are some ways to test your "Internet Speed".

      Re: 108.0 Mbps netgear?

      Actually, being pedantic (again - sorry ) that is the wireless signal rate, dependent on signal strength and little to do with connection rate.

      Whilst it is possible to get a reported signal rate of 108mbps, getting a connection rate anywhere near this outside a lab environment is practically impossible.

      @jarr

      A connection rate of 108mbps isn't going to limit your internet connection seeing as it is some 6 times faster than the fastest service that Sky offer. However, as indicated above, getting a connection speed more than a fraction of this is dependent on a very good wireless signal. In a home environment this is hard to achieve and in most circumstances a wired connection will be the only way to get the most out of your internet connection.

      Your slow connection is probably due to a poor wireless connection but it could be down to other things. You need to try a wired connection and post your speed test results and router connection stats if you want further advice.

      I'll let you have that one I was replying to sassy's comment and picked up her terms (and it was early Sunday morning, sheesh! )

      The point was still valid though, it was measuring the wireless connection/signal and not the "Internet" (use whatever words you want).

      Re: 108.0 Mbps netgear?

      1632 kbps (1.6 Mbps) is your "max speed". In practice you'll get something less than that with ethernet, and probably less again with wireless.

      Look here http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/speed...s-try-etc.html for some tests to see what you are getting in practice. (The more tests you try the better picture you'll get as there will be quite some variation.)
