Re: new to sky connect.. erm help!

hmm ive looked up on the internet and advice from friends, they say

a low line attenuation is better (?) mine being 9.0 db for downstream
      and
a high noise margin is better (?) mine being 30.3 db for downstream

ive tested the stats during different times of the day, yet no change what soever.. im starting to think this is my max connection for downloads, should i phone skys freephone number and ask whats going on here or just wait a little longer?

whats weird is, i play americas army and my ping reaches 15-17! not bad for a lousy connection (or maybe im on a good server) - i dont lag, but if i do its due to nortons update program!

      im finding this really odd

Re: new to sky connect.. erm help!

anyone have suggestions?? im really fustrated here now... 30.5kb/sec is just robbing me of my money when sky said up to 8mb.. im not expecting the full 8mb, but at least 2+mb would do, then i know for a fact sky would be better than my old isp

Have you tried calling technical support? I know it may seem a pain to do, but if you explain that you're only getting 288/288 and the indicated max is 11232/1104 they may attempt to help you - even if it's just "reset the router" and perform a line check.

      Best of luck.
Sods law says that they will enable your line before they send out your router.......

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5600 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 41.0 db 25.0 db

ok got round to ringing sky, the lady ( from USA) was very helpful because she did say what most of you suggest eg plug into test socket or master socket

anyway, she said leave it there for an hour, which i have, no difference.. shall i ring back and ask for tier 3 who can up my speed in an instant (fingers crossed obviously)?
