Sky Max activated today - First Questions

      Hi,

Moved from Plusnet to Sky Max.

I just plugged my modem in (sky) and it worked straight away after i logged in with admin/sky. Any advice on the following would be appreciated.

      1. Now i have not even opened the CD, do i need to install?. Will the install my my speed faster?

I use a apple mac, so what benefit does it offer?, im currently using my own Safari browser.

      2. Im on max up to 16mbp, and initally am disappointed with first check at speed. I know i should give it 10 days, but its not likely by magic to go over this is it?.

      3. The sky operator originally did a digital line check and told me my line could accept 14.5mbps. i was hoping for over 9 at least.
How do i know what my phone local exchange is offering, if its 8, so my cuurrent speeds, the best i will get then?

      speed test -

      Line Attenuation.........38.0 db...................22.8 db
      Noise Margin..............6.6 db....................12.0 db

Is it possible to get more out ?

you dont need to install the sky cd and this install wil not make ur speeds any faster. you could always plug the router into the test socket and post those stats generaly the test socket will give faster results

From your stats you can get a much better speed than that, as stated above try plugging into your test socket or just your master socket if you dont have an NTE5 master.

You dont need to wait 10 days, that is only on the connect package

For connect - can you force a line 're-train'?
I didn't use my master socket during the first 10 days so my synched speed may be lower than I could get now.
