      Confused

These are my detailed line stats can someone take a look at them and tell me whats going on.

I fitted an adslnation xte 2005 faceplate (nice) I ordered a 15metre modem cable while i was at it, and my connection speed dropped!! Now i have moved my router downstairs next to the faceplate and run an ethernet cable to my office, taking into consideration the time of day (as it seems to drop at night) i have been connecting at approx 4388kbps does this sound reasonable.

      Thanks in advance

      Re: Confused

For an attenuation of 58db, the max you could hope for is 2-4Mb, so you are at the top end of that scale.

PS you NM (SNR) is quite low at less than 6. Anything below 6 will start to see an unstable connection. Try rebooting so the router re-syncs with a NM of 7db (this will see you sync rate drop a little, but it will be more stable).

      Re: Confused

      Thanks for your reply

I was surprised to see it so low to be honest it has been around the 7.2 mark for ages and then it has dropped, my home phone line appears to be a little hissy tonight (i dontno why) the other day when i set my ethernet cable up with my normal BT faceplate i was synching at about 4500kbs but now it has dropped. (with adslnations faceplate)

I think i will give BT a call and complain about the hiss on my line.

      thanks again..

      Re: Confused

Just had a call from Tech 3, from a very nice lady called Becky .
Whom i know will probably read this.

I would like to thank her for her time spent explaining everything to me instead of just telling me (thats the way it is).

She helped me understand the reason why my speeds are what they are and explained about the g.dmt setting.

Looks like i will not get ADSL2+ anyway and while i have a very stable connection connecting at probably the highest connection speed available for the condition of my line, I would just like to give the tech 3 a big and thank becky.
