      New customer needs help!!!

      Hi all

I've been live on the Sky Max package since the 30th January after migrating from Demon internet (2 Meg). I've been reading this site and have managed to get myself totally confused with all the info here. The problem is, I don't seem to be getting very good download speeds or speedtest results.

Now I may be wrong, as I don't really know what I'm talking about, but I was expecting better results than this. I've run TCP Optimizer, but that doesn't seem to have been much help.

      Heres my router stats

Connection Speed 15323 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 19.0 db 10.9 db
Noise Margin 15.1 db 10.5 db

If any kind soul could help me get better speeds, I'd be extremely gratefull. The only thing I did think of was that the router is connected to the main phone socket (which is downstairs) by a very long extension cable - would I be better off connecting the router directly & getting a USB wireless adapter?

      Sorry for the long post!!!

wireless can be flaky on the netgear ,can u put the router at the bt box [maybe move pc there temp just to see ur stats ]if they improve u can go wireless option sky do 1 for "20 for a usb wireless adaptor . or get an ethernet cable [10metres for about 6]and keep router at main bt socket

      Thanks for the reply!

I could try a longer ethernet cable with the router at the main socket - didn't realize that would be any better than the long phone extension. Will get one tomorrow & give it a whirl.

      Cheers
