      Connection Speed On Max Package

Just a quick question to other people who are on the sky max package, does this connection speed seem slow with regard to the line attenuation and noise margin figures?

Samknows.com tells me that the exchange is about 2.05km away from my house. I was expecting connection speeds of between 12000kbps and 15000kbps

      Router Info:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8096 kbps 768 kbps
Line Attenuation 34.0 db 22.5 db
Noise Margin 11.6 db 13.0 db

Re: Connection Speed On Max Package

No you're not on ADSL2+ - your router is reporting "Mode: G.DMT". This means you are limited to a connection speed of ~8000kbps.

Sky allegedly do this when they see there are problems with your line. Looking further at your stats it is certainly generating errors but not all that many and certainly below the level I'd have thought they'd cap you at.

      Ray

Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.

Re: Connection Speed On Max Package

As Saturday says, You have been capped @ 8096 and on GDMT not ADSL2+.

The same has happened to me and I have phoned Sky and asked for the cap to be removed and put back on ADSL2+. It took a lot of perserverance, I had to phone up 4 times, as you speak to Tier 1 who have to raise a ticket for Tier 3 to take the cap off, etc. From Tier 1 I goy answers like - Sky don't use ADSL2+, the cap being removed won't mean you will get any faster speeds, you are not capped and you are on ADSL2+, finally on my 4th attempt I got someone who knew there stuff and raised the ticket for Tier 3 to look at, am now waiting for Tier 3 to action this as takes up to 5 days, so good luck !!
