      2 numbers - 1 master socket

      Okay, in my house i have 2 phone numbers, 1 for business and 1 for home. i can find the master socket with the Bt sign on it but all the other sockets dont have anything on them.

      so how do i find the master socket for that home number ???

      Presumably you know which sockets are which lines? If you have more than one socket for the home number (i.e. you have extensions) then you'll have to trace the wires from where they enter the house to the first socket. That would be regarded as the master socket. Normally, but not always, that socket would have a ring capacitor in it whereas extension sockets may not.

      There's also the possibility BT may have used DACS to save them running a 2nd line to the house.

      Do you have anything like this outside -



      If you have DACS then this will need removing and a new line installing if you wish to keep the 2 lines as ADSL can't run over DACS.

      i dont think i have one of those... ive only just moved into this house like 2-3 months ago - the house is pretty new aswell 3 years ?! so maybe they are only on older houses... or doesnt it matter.
