with that attenuation and noise margin you should be able to. Is your download rate 8000 spot on?

Go to Sky Netgear DG834GT utility version 0.4 and click Get Detailed modem Stats and post the results back here.

This may be an elementary thing to check, but ensure you are using the microfilters supplied by Sky. I had used my old microfilters and my router would often sync at 8mbps. After putting in my sky broadband microfilters, the connection jumped to 15.4mbps...

Those stats appear to indicate that for some reason Sky has capped you - you're not on ADSL2+ and your downstream speed is capped.

You'll need to call Sky and battle your way through to Tier 3 to challenge why they've done this. You may get one of two reasons given:
      • your line can't take a higher speed
      • they don't have ADSL2+ capacity at your exchange

If you get the first one then don't put up with it. Your line attenuation is excellent as is your noise margin. You have a very small number of errors on your line but these aren't remotely bad enough to need your line capped.

If you get the second then that's probably tosh too. I'd be confident they have the equipment as you are connected - almost certainly to an ADSL2+ capable card. Whether they have enough internet backbone available is a different matter. Capping customers would be a good way to make the available bandwidth go further - but maybe I'm just being cynical.

You may wish to improve your connection filtering to see if you can eliminate or reduce those errors still further.
