Is This Any Good?
I tested my speed, for the first time in ages, throughout the day and using various sources couldn't get it up to the 6 or 7 meg it used to be at the end of November. Just wondering if this is the expected speed and also whether upgrading from Md to Max increases the speed you get.
I've posted my stats below as well as a link to the speed test which yielded the best result.
Connection Speed 8190 kbps 396 kbps
Line Attenuation 26.5 db 14.7 db
Noise Margin 14.3 db 24.5 db

well you are synching at the highest for the MID package, but I would have expected to see a 'real' DL rate of around 7Mb.
Try downloading a large file from FTP and leave it to settle, these tend to be more accurate than the speedtest sites.
Try: http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...91/FSXDemo.exe which is 800Meg is size so let that run for a few mins and then report back the speed its downloading at

ps - with that attenuation you should get much higher speeds if you went to MAX.

I ran the FSX download until 30% and got an average of around 611kB/sec so this seems to be better. I'm going to run the optimizer and see what I get then although I think I've already done this.

is that 611KB a KB is 8 Kb, so 611 would be 4888Kbps which is about the same as what your speed test was giving you.
Hopefully the optimiser will work. You should get about 6800Kbps (850KBps)
I sync at 7700 at the mo and from that link I DL at 810KBps (6480kbps)

No that figure was taken from firefox which reads the download speed as "XXXkB/sec"
Speed Test was worse this time

Well I guess that should be KB as there is no such thing as kB.
Was that new test after the optimiser? If so it is still consistent in floating around the 5000 mark (it will always fluctuate on a speed test site as it is using a very small file for testing purposes).
what do you get using Namesco BroadbandMax ADSL Broadband Bandwidth speedtest | Test your ADSL Broadband connection speed

That test was after the optimizer and I tried downloading Winamp and got the speed shown in the Screenshot below in kB/sec. The speed is also very high so maybe the optimizer has done the trick.
