T3 has reduced my speed
I have had speed problems since I connected to sky about 4 weeks ago, and I have been waiting for a call from T3.
Using my non sky router I have been getting a speed of 1504 kbps downstream and 416kbps upstraem (with sky router it has been 1024 downstream)
It has been quite stable for the past 3 weeks at this speed until today when it dropped to 1200kbps downstream.
I phoned sky this evening to tell them about the spped drop and to my suprise I was put through to T3.
I was speaking to him telling him that it had been stable for a while at 1504kbps but I thought I could get higher.
Line Attenuation 63.5 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 7.1 db 7.0 db
He said I wont get ant faster than 1meg (even though I was tekking him that I had a stable connection for 3 weeks at 1.5meg) and has set my speed at 1120kbps.
I asked him to increase it but he wouldnt saying I would start to get errors due to my line stats.
What can I do?

He did increase my upload speed from 416 to 512kbps which is a bonus but still not happy with the download speed.

There is no hope! After spending the money on a new socket and installing it! I asked Sky to remove the cap who are now resisting to do so!

Pau1777,
It is essential to reduce the bandwidth on some DSL lines to improve the stability of the signal. The tier 3 guys do know the score and I can assure you that this would be the only option open to them. You may think that your line was stable at 1.5MB but if you were loosing data packets then its false economy. The difference in speed is not that significant. Have you tried connecting directly to your master socket to see if you stats improve?
Take a look at this http://www.skyuser.co.uk/index.php?page=mastersocketLast edited by Cyrus; 21-12-06 at 05:37 AM.

Hi Cyrus,
Yes my modem is connected directly into the master socket through a NTE-2005 Master face plate.
As I said I though my connection was stable at 1.5mb (Iknow it is slow compared to some people!) I never lost my connection speed did dip from time to time when downloading but soon recovered, is this the data packets you were talking about?
