very poor connection up 2 mbytes

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 3008 kbps 768 kbps
Line Attenuation 15.5 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 6.5 db 13.0 db

I am getting only between only the base connection 2008 kbps 2500 kbps inside of 16M Max. The test from http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/ shows
download speed 2488 kbbs and 628 kbbs.

Call Sky support 5 times, I was told that I can get MAX 2 mbytes speed with 1.5 miles from Exchange Box. But I was able to get close to 4 Mbytes at BT master socket and 3 mbytes at test socket. Should I believe the SKY analysis?
How I figure out my Max connection ? I have to find me another provider ...

      For SKY Managers:

I will advise SKY to start using Telemetry system like netcool from IBM to monitor millions of events daily from the modems in high-speed, in-memory database and fix them automatic in less then 3 seconds. We did it in USA for www.cox.com .

I was able to see you speed of your connection and the hole neighbour to figure the network speed with many levels: your modem, neighbour’s modem , subdivision …..etc.

      See the link below ..

Well if that is the stats from the master socket, it looks like you have the best that your line can support.

The best way to get your best performance, would be to try the test socket behind the master socket. I tried this and doubled my speed. I then bought a new ADSL socket to replace the master one.

      Thank for info ..
It is normal to get 2M connection with 1.5 miles from Exchange Box?
What kind of speed should I expect from My Line Attenuation is 15.5 db
How I figure out the line speed of my telephone ?

      Thanks

FYI form some website : Line Attenuation
Line Attenuation below 20dB is generally considered exemplary, decreasing in value up to a maximum somewhere in the region approaching 60dB.
In summary, a lower Line Attenuation is more desirable for the purpose of delivering broadband to your premises.

tbh stats ain't my strong point

Noise Margin 5.8 db 13.0 db
but to me that noise margin is too low - hence why I asked if definitely in your test socket

something i have noticed, once my router is switched on it sets to a speed and keeps that speed, so this morning when the interweb was quiet i was up at around 6mb, but turning it off and back on, just now, i am down to 3mb ish. as far as i know(and i could be wrong)i wont be able to get my speed back up until the interweb goes quiet again, so do you guys keep your router on 24/7 or turn it off at night?
