      Slow speedtests.

I recently signed up for the Sky Connect package and was connected on the 15th November.
Plugged Router in and setup no problem, connected to router and stats are and have always been as follows.
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7104 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 45.0 db 27.0 db
Noise Margin 5.8 db 18.0 db

Which was surprising as BT say it will only go to 3.5MB.

From day one the connection seemed slow so ran various speedtests and results are appalling.

      Downstream 200.9 Kbps ( = 0.2 Mbps )
      Upstream 248.7 Kbps ( = 0.2 Mbps )

Ran various speed tests on various sites and all give similar results.
I know these tests aren't 100% accurate but surely they can't be that wrong?
I have tried various cables settings etc but still the same.

Anybody having similar problems or know a solution before I ring Tech Support and wait 3 weeks for them to fob me off?

      Welcome to the site Bladesman1968

First of all as you are on the Connect it needs to learn which will require the router to remain connected for 10 days if you are switching it off then it will never find a stable rate for your connection.

If you would like to know more about MAX Adsl then go read this and this

You may also want to try these speed tests

      http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/

I find it a lot more accurate when I need a rough idea how the connection is doing but a good ftp site is the best indicator for a more accurate speed test try this one

      ftp://ftp.mirror.ac.uk/edunfs/mirror...4-bootonly.iso

      25MB file
