      how to speed up newsgroups

im on the connect package for now, and i get decent speeds using http - 700kbs usually, and decent speeds on xbox live. but i also use newsgroups to download a file or two, but i only get about 60kbs at most - newsgroups used to be my fastest downloaded before sky

is there anything i can do to speed it up? or have sky restricted it?

sky havnt restricted newsgroup access as when my connection was working i could get a steady rate of 1000kBps.

which provider do you use? and how many connections are you using.

i am with newshosting and use 4 connections, easily enough to max the connection.

Nod@Vishal, This was what a few members thought, That speeds were being restricted, But after tweaking the app they were using it all seems fine!

Try searching the forums for a Newsgroup topic!

Id have to confirm what vishal has said, I dont think sky are capping newsgroup access speeds! I dl regularly from newshosting and see speeds constant usually at around 700KB/s sometimes a bit higher or lower depending on the time of day but certainly so much faster than torrents etc. What do you use to connect to the newsgroups? Im using grabbit which is free and does the job nicely. You may find that simply changing the software you use may have a different result depending on your system setup. Also id take a look at which firewall software your using, I'm using ZoneAlarm with no problem but I know some people have had problems with slow dl speed using certain firewall and antivirus software. Hope that helps a bit!
