Explanation of Stats Needed
Here are my statistics:-
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 10492 kbps 766 kbps
Line Attenuation 38.0 db 19.1 db
Noise Margin 7.6 db 13.0 db
My peak speedtest on www.dslzoneuk.net is 8.88MB.
I am 2.4km from my exchange on foot and 1.4km as the crow flys.
Are these acceptable or should I be getting more?

They're OK.
I have similar attenuation to you and sync at 12000 - 14000 depending on current noise levels.
You might improve things a little by improving your internal line with a filtered faceplate. To check whether this will have a beneficial effect connect your router to the master socket "test socket" and see what it syncs at. Compare this to it plugged in to wherever you normally plug it. If the test socket gives better results then it is worth making some improvements.

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 14837 kbps 766 kbps
Line Attenuation 37.5 db 18.9 db
Noise Margin 6.5 db 10.6 db
These are my stats when plugged into master socket.
My new speedtest on www.dslzoneuk.net is 10.14MB.
The only problem is that I have not got the bottle to fit the NTE-2005 Master face plate myself.

It really is a doddle and takes 5 min max. There are plenty of guides around including on this forum.
£15 (faceplate and Krone tool) and you've got an extra 4meg (connection). No brainer
