      Results from http://test.speedtester.bt.com

      Hi all

LIke many of you I am having trouble with the speed of downloading

I Have carried out the speed test at http://test.speedtester.bt.com/ and these are the results that I have received:

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test:
IP profile for your line is - 135 kbps
      DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 7616 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 92 kbps

What causes me concern is that the IP Profile is 135kbps, Does anyone know what that means?

For info the details from my router are

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7200 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 44 db 12 db
Noise Margin 0 db 24 db

      Any help would be appreciated

      Thanks

looking at your stats you have:

Noise Margin 0 db 24 db

Have you tried plugging the router into your master socket?

The throughput you are getting is not right, mine was low, then i tried the master socket and have just done the same test as yours and I am getting 5500

The beuty of the CONNECT package, is that the rate will change every now and then, if you get better line conditions, it will go up

You have not said how long you have been connected? If less than 10 days, I would not worry as it trains your line to the best possible attainable speed.

      Newsreader

Thanks for your advice. I have not tried the master socket i will give that a go and see what happens.

What does the noise Margin mean? are the stats good or is there a problem with them?

I only received my router yesterday

      Thanks

It says 0 which if I am thinking straight means you should not have a connection.

Try the master socket and report back to us

Newreader, I have tried the master socket and it did not make a great deal of difference

My main concern is that when I run the BT speed test it states that my throughput is 135k?? Do you know what this means and what effect this has on the broadband connection?

I would suggest ringing Sky then, as it would appear your profile so to speak is wrong at their end. Hope you sort it soon
