Thanks for that, i understand the connection speed bit (8128) but my download speeds are pathetic (128 !!!) and wondered if the attenuation and noise had anything to do with it. I have been connected for a fortnight and am waiting for a level 3 response from sky. I am getting fed up of waiting and found this forum which seems miles better than skys non existent customer service. Used to be on BT 2mb connection which has been perfect for past 2 years - beginning to think i've made a huge mistake.

When the Broadband service sorts it self out, You will be able to see how great the service really is but it seems that alot of people cant see this!

How far are you from the exchange? Have you tried connecting with the master socket!

Also how are you connected, Ethernet or Wireless!

I really appreciate your help. yes I have tried the master socket which was no different. i am connected by ethernet ( although I also have another pc in the house that is connected wirelessly and a friend brought her laptop around and they also experienced the same speeds as the master pc ) I here what you say about it being a great service when its sorted out but i didnt sign up to a service that needed sorting out ( at least I cant remember them telling me it needed sorting out when they took and continue to take my money). Do you think my line noise is too high ?

Hi dave, have you tried the TCP optimiser from the sticky at the top of this forum? You have excellect stats and are connecting at a good rate and your noise margin is really good to. Also have you noticed any pattern to your slow speeds? Are they consistent or do they only drop at peak times?
