sorry hugsie - but i assume your connection must be one of the very few that works as sky promised - mine isnt so you must be able to understand my frustration - nearly 3 weeks now at dialup speeds when i used to have a perfect 2mb connection with bt - regarding your early comment about contention ratios my bt ratio was 1:50 sky advertise 1:30 so surely this should give better results as i am only sharing with 30 and not 50 ?
Sky - really nice guys (not) but more family friendly !!!
      regards
      dave

Also, some thing that can perhaps be confirmed by someone else, If the optimiser increased your max sinc speed and you have completed your training period then you have to hold your connection stable for a period before the actual sinc increases again. Not sure as I am on Max. I think it is three days.

Cheers Hugsie for being so understanding - the optimiser tool did improve things for a while but not by much - what do you mean by training period ?
      regards

Ok, please bear in mind that this is my limited undertanding from what I have read.
the connect package goes through a 10 day training period where your router and the exchange establish what is your maximum stable sync speed. Once this is complete your max rate is set and remains so that you can sync within that rate.
What I am not sure about is what happens when your router is suddenly able to sync above that.

this threas may help a little: Thread
I will try and find out some more info to help you.

Me too with the beers! I am having to censor myself tonight

Any speed test site is as reliable as it's server is busy at the time of the test. So I choose to believe the good ones

I use an FTP as in the sticky at the top of this forum to test my speeds and torrents as I have them well set up and access to super fast uploaders.
