Wildly differing speed results.
Can anyone give me an indication of if the behaviour that I’m experiencing is normal for a BT IPStream product? I’m currently on ‘SBB Connect’ having moved from Orange LLU 8Meg.
I know that you need to take account of factors such as line contention and peak traffic times but my speed seems to be all over the place. As an example I downloaded two files from the same server one at 8:30am this morning and the second at 18:40 this evening. The first file downloaded at an average speed of around 750k/s while the second file barely managed 90k/s.
Doing some speed tests from http://www.dslzoneuk.net/speedtest.php?test=advanced the morning test came in at 6.3Mbps and the evening test 1.08Mbps. This seems to be a massive difference to me, and it seems to be something that is happening every day. Is this normal, or do I have a problem with my connection.
These are my line stats for the first test
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8128 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 26.0 db 16.0 db
Noise Margin 10.4 db 17.0 db
These are my line stats for the second test
