      Re: Fastpath...

Ive never really tried coding gain 0

All modems use coding gain by default as my d-link sky modem sync's in at 22meg at about 8.5 db of margin also

Just out of interest im going to run it for a few days at -1 snr and coding gain 0
In comparison to Coding Gain auto snr 12

      DSP Firmware Version E.25.41.55 A
      Connected true
      Operational Mode G.Dmt.BisPlus
      Annex Type AnnexA
      Upstream 1216000
      Downstream 20694508
Elapsed Time 0 day 0 hr 1 min 23 sec
      SNR Margin(Upstream) 9.5 dB
      SNR Margin(Downstream) 7.40 dB
      Line Attenuation(Upstream) 5.5 dB
      Line Attenuation(Downstream) 18.5 dB

      Re: Fastpath...

Coding gain just seems to test the line to see if it is capable of a lower margin
and bs's the margin whatever it thinks the line is good for

Coding Gain auto at 12.4db margin = 19.39 Mbit
Coding Gain 0 at default margin 7.4 = 20.69 Mbit

The downstream error rate is about every 40 mins at Coding Gain 0
it may get to 50 or so mins after an extended period

There's 5 db less margin but a 1.3meg higher sync
So it seems to be adding 3 or 4 db of margin

Auto must be using coding Gain 3 or 4.. in my case

      Re: Fastpath...

Yeah i find using 0 doesn't put any pressure on the connection to perform better speed wise.

Although it's nowhere near as good as yours im getting 450 errors in 19 hours which for a long line i guess is alright and to increase the snr any more i think would make it unusable to share amongst other users in the house.

Btw loving the quick loading of web pages, i dropped it down to 5mb even and youtube loaded a 1080p video instantly! this is how the net should be experienced by people.

      Re: Fastpath...

I have gone back to Coding Gain Auto SNR 12

I had an average of an error every 30mins on Coding Gain 0 SNR -1 over 29 hours
Its atleast half that on Auto and 12

      Upstream 1216000
      Downstream 19521630
Elapsed Time 0 day 0 hr 47 min 51 sec
      SNR Margin(Upstream) 9.0 dB
      SNR Margin(Downstream) 12.45 dB
      Line Attenuation(Upstream) 5.5 dB
      Line Attenuation(Downstream) 18.5 dB

      Re: Fastpath...

Ah, i guess it was worth a shot but even that is some impressive result on code gain 0. i dare imagine many people would be able to match or better what your currently getting error wise on that profile. i'm on 1000 a day pretty much and the connection seems fine so happy days
