Hi I am on the sky broadband connect package (8mg speed) and consistently get roughly
4mg download speeds through out the day , which i am quite happy with . unfortunately though i consistently get roughly 500k download speeds through out the evening and night (from 5pm - 3am). Any ideas as to why and can anything be done about it . many thanks tuco

if you are experiencing slow connection between 6pm-11pm, that's normal because a lot of people/sky users is at their home. All connected to the internet at the same time....

HI, I have posted in another thread below.

I get exactly the same, 200-400 in the evening and 5884 in the morning on the Sky Connect package. (and I have paid 40 to transfer and lose my broadband for 5 days so I am well peeved). They didn't tell us this before we transferred. Utter madness and my BT broadband was never this bad. I'm within my 10 days so I'm going back. Although I do need a bit of madness so may just call (un)helpline again. If I get any answers I'll post back.

I am prepared to sit this one out. Sky are still a relatively new ISP and there are bound to be teething problems. Overall I am quite happy and hopefully in the not so distant future stuff like these slow speeds in the evenings and slow access to some of the Sky portal's will be sorted out.

Re: slow speeds only in the evening !

Don't feel too agrieved, having the same problem in Upton Park. Have 14000kbps downloads in the mornings, and 500-1000kbps during the evenings (on MAX, LLU).

I've been told that upgrades are due, but through Easynet Support not Sky - which seem to think everything's fine with them..

      What exchanges are people on?

Re: slow speeds only in the evening !

You could be the exception of course but it is generally believed that Sky's LLU network currently has sufficient bandwidth that no customers ever experience any form of contention. That's certainly my experience and that of every other member on this forum that I'm aware of i.e my speeds in the evening are as near as damn it the same as any other time of day (~10000kbps on a 12000kbps sync).

If you're getting a significant slowdown on Max in the evenings then I think you should look to a noise margin problem being the issue not congestion.
