      Increased my Noise Margin.

      Hello everyone, how`s it going.

Just a quickie question regarding the Noise Margin which is shown on the statistics page in the Router info.

Anyway where pretty new to Sky having been with Virgin for many years. We even had to have a new line put in. Decided to go for the 20Mb unlimited package as i download a lot of linux iso`s and have had a download speed of ~6Mb with an upload ~0.6Mb.

My Noise Margin was around 7db for the download, a tadge more for the upload. Know iv`e been doing some re-wiring of the internals in the house and know have a Noise Margin for the download of 15.4db (upstream not so high) and was wondering if this should give us a better download speed?
DLM finished a while back so i was wondering if maybe we have been capped at a certain max, i`m not very good with this adsl+ stuff.

Any advise or info would be smashing,

      Cheers,
      Matt

Yes, DLM will have set the line to the old noise margin.

Ring Sky and tell them you have repaired your wiring and can they manually configure it.

Sure, just shows though how having a little bit of noise on the line can make a big difference! Don`t think they touched the upstream though.

Give them a ring and they should be able to raise your upstream a bit.

Thought that, seems they may have "forgot" to do anything with the upstream...!
