The following instructions only show a faceplate that has 2,3, and 5 connectors - none for the extension:
The terminals shown are for the extension. The main incoming connection is located at the back of the NTE5 socket. I would advise buying one which also includes unfiltered terminals, such as -
      ADSL Nation LTD.

      or one from Run-it-direct-
BT NTE-2005 ADSL Faceplate for NTE5, 6 Way Version

Having unfiltered terminals on the faceplate means you can install a dedicated extension for broadband, should you wish.

      Re: Improve Line Speed...

      Hi guys,

I just want to say thank you for the above advice. I got a socket and am now getting the following results...

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 14951 kbps 980 kbps
Line Attenuation 27 db 14 db
Noise Margin 7 db 7 db

Just one more question though... I have both a Netgear (black) and a Sagem router. I am using the Netgear one, although I have heard this is not as good in terms of connection/speed as the Sagem. Does anybody have any suggestions as to which one I would be best using? Would changing to the Sagem make any improvements to my speed?

      Many thanks,

      Adam

Depends on the equipment in the exchange, the netgear has a TI AR7 chip whereas the Sagem uses a broadcom one. Some exchanges kit works better with the TI stuff and others with the Broadcom. I personally find the TI routers work better on my connection.

The best way to tell is to plug it in and see, it only takes a few minutes to change over.
