Had a good laugh reading thru this thread.
Some of you replying to the `Virgin` boy has just fueled his desire to promote all things cable...
I'd guess stopping replying to him would see him abandon this thread in search of somewhere else to feed his `internet hardman` fantasies.

Anyways, I was recently on Virgin until a house move meant ADSL or nothing.
Took sky as they were providing me with TV and BB was cheap and Sky are the only LLU providers in my local exchange.

On Virgin XL I had 20Mb - Translates to a best DL speed of 10.5Mb for me. Worst was 2Mb in evenings.
Playing ZeroHour online, pings to hosts all over the world were around 300ms providing they had decent BB connection. This is playable on ZeroHour.
But between 5pm and 9-10pm, forget it...Failure to connect to hosts would be 100%.
No gaming in the evening there then....

With Sky, ADSL connects around 10Mb.. Downloads around 9Mb, drops to 7Mb at peak times.
Pings again are 300ms, just like Virgin...But connects anytime of the day... So I can game when I'm awake...Yippeee.

Cable ain't all that...Granted downloads and pings would be better on their 50Mb package, but thats only comparable to FTC when it comes.
Anything but Virgins 50Mb package just ain't worth it...And until FTC arrives, I'll reserve judgement on their 50Mb...

If you are on Sky LLU then there should be no slowdown in the evening and certainly no reason to have pings that high, you have a problem with your setup somewhere.

Post your router stats from the current router position and also the TEST socket.

Hmm, 10 via PayPal to anyone who thinks ADSL is better than Cable.

I'll send you the money if you can show a Sky Broadband Connection that beats my Upload and Ping to any Server on Speedtest.net.

      It'll never happen.

I always have fun wiping the floor with ADSL users.

Beat my ping to any sever for 100.

      Can't be done, can it?

Cable is made for gaming, where you need the lowest possible ping.
