      Slow Upload Connection?

After seeing the amazing help other people have been receiving here, I would love to know if someone could help me out.

My Upload speed is so slow it's killing me when I'm trying to play big online games. Lags/jumps.

Below is my speed test and router info

      DownStream - UpStream
      Connection 8096 768
Line Atten 36.0 db 21.0 db
Noise Margin 7.2 db 17.0 db

Does anyone know if im being capped in any sort of way OR if there's
a way I can increase upload speed?

      Any help is appreciated

      Re: Slow Upload Connection?

A call to Sky and you should be able to get them to increase the upstream to around 1mb but that is not your problem. Your stats are plenty good enough for gaming. When you are on the phone to them ask them to reduce your max delays to 8.

Are you using wireless to connect to the computer? if so, try a wire, wireless and gaming don't mix well.

      Re: Slow Upload Connection?

I've been really struggling with my upload too.

That's what I'm currently at after talking with Sky, although I'm awaiting a call back from the solutions team.

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2688 kbps 128 kbps
Line Attenuation 63.5 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 7.6 db 7.0 db

Any ideas on what I can do to sort this out? Any help appreciated.

      Re: Slow Upload Connection?

On the face of it, it looks capped at test/baseline speed, however there appears no room for improvement. Have you tried taking the stats from the test socket with a swapped filter, using only the short grey dsl cable sky supplied?

OK. I rang them today about increasing the upload. They said that I was getting the most that is possible (after reading out my noise, upstream etc stats to them) are they lieing or?

      Re: Slow Upload Connection?

No, they are not, your noise margin is at the default limit so no more speed is available with the current setup.

Unless you take the staps that User05 has asked then there is nothing else anyone here can do and you still haven't answered my question above, i'm starting tho think you don't want help.

      Re: Slow Upload Connection?

I thought the default limit for upload should be around 7, not 17? It's the upload speed i would like to get increased, which you said yourself could most probaly go up to 1mb if i asked them... which is what I did?

Now your saying no more speed is available :S

Im not sure if user05 was replying to me or the guy who gatecrashed my thread?

I'm connecting to the main socket if that helps

      Thanks

EDIT: Speeds are roughly the same plugged directly into test socket.

      Re: Slow Upload Connection?

Sorry Welshman, you are correct, I saw the other guys stats with an upload noise margin of 7db and though it was you

I do wish people would start their own threads.

Anyway back to your noise margin, you do have more speed available on the upload side, not much though.

When you say the main socket, how many do you have and is one of the the type with the split in the front? Are you sure all the sockets in use in the house have an ADSL filter in them as the very FIRST thing plugged in?
