No problem atall, it does confuse the thread

How much more would you say would be available? 100-200kps?

We have one main socket, noticeable because its the only socket in the house that has the split front. I took that off and plugged in a filter into the test socket with the small grey lead that came with sky into that.

We have 2 other sockets. One has a sky filter in it, as the phone is plugged into that. The other socket does not have a filter in it, but it's not in use. As in, we don't plug anything into it.

      hope that helps.

      Re: Slow Upload Connection?

When you remove the front from that split socket, do all the other phone lines go dead?

Can you post your stats from it again with only the filter and the router connected to it?

I would imagine that you can touch the 1mb upload speed but getting Sky to do it for you is the problem as it will need to be done manually by the CST dept. Try ringing up and asking to be connected to CST so you can get your max delays reduced, they may put you through.

      Re: Slow Upload Connection?

Yes all phone lines go dead.

If you want me to unscrew the thing again, sure i will do it. I can remember 100% though the numbers all being roughly the same. Don't see much point?

I will ring ASAP and ask for the CST dept. Do i just ask for the CST dept, or does it stand for something? Why it's hard for them to change a setting that should already be done for everyone is ridiculous. I never knew internet companies did this sort of thing before today.

I am pretty sure you are on G.DMT, which with your attenuation should be unnecessary. Call Sky and ask them to reconfigure your line to ADSL2+, which it should be on. This will increase your download and upload considerably.

Just call and jump through the hoops for Tier 1 who will pass you to the Customer Solutions Team. It will be worth a bit of hassle.

It's hard to tell how much of a difference there will be until the line code is changed to adsl2plus. From there, the downstream max attainable rate may shoot up and sky can uncap it. If you're lucky, perhaps around 10mbps down and 1mbps up.

Test Socket, With Splitter and Small Grey Cable. Everything in house disconnected

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8096 kbps 768 kbps

      Re: Slow Upload Connection?

You would probably benefit by fitting and using a filtered faceplate, your internal wiring is interfering with the broadband signal.

If I were you I would leave it plugged into the Test socket, phone Sky and ask them to reconfigure your line to ADSL2+. With a bit of luck you will get 10-12 Mb down and 0.9 - 1.0 Mb up. After that is done you can buy, fit and use a filtered faceplate.

      Re: Slow Upload Connection?

I got them to email me to confirm any changes they had made...

      this is the email:

I have made some configuration changes on your broadband line this evening and can confirm that you are now connecting at 9325Kbps (9.3MB). This is the fastest speed your line can handle.

Your upload speed is also syncing in at 885Kbps.

      Can't complain I suppose
