      will it go faster?

hey people i got sky BB unlim on the 7th of this month, and my 10thday is tomoro, now ive had speed jumps from 3.5 (firstday) to 10.5 (now),it changed evry 2 days till it stoped at 10.5,now my ping has been altering from 47ms to 37ms but the last few ping changes has not given me faster speeds wereas the others did.

i was hoping for the full 16mb as i live about 250m from the exchange but like i said its stuck at 10.5 with just some migre ping changes.

just to say its 10.5 up in speedtest and 12.2 up and 948 down in the router

      some stats for you

      this is my current speed

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 12280 kbps 948 kbps
Line Attenuation 12.0 db 4.8 db

It's 10 days on average, your line should go faster but your upload noise margin is not good, how is your router connected to the telephone line? You are in the master socket and not extension aren't you?

      Re: will it go faster?

router>filter>wall socket (its the only one in the house)

attached to the filter (phone) is a splitter just for the phone and sky box

in what way is the upstream noise margin bad? ime getting nearly 1mb upload to the router

The upstream nose margin is fine for the upstream speed your getting. Does your SKY profile on sky.com say that line testing has finished? If so then give them a ring to get the cap removed as you are capped. If not then just wait and it should go up to around 16-17mb

      Re: will it go faster?

If you have errors on the line caused by noise, increasing the speed will increase the errors which will slow down the speed as the data will have to be resent and so it will take longer for you to get it.

Do as I said above and plug the router into the TEST socket and post your stats:- How to test your ADSL in the Master Socket

With your attenuation, you should easily hit the 20mb mark with some noise margin to spare, something is wrong with either your setup or the line, we won't know which until you get the stats from the TEST socket.

I have posted this on both threads you have running, any chance a mod can merge the two???
