Weird speed issue
if i go to the ftp mirror site that wheelie often mentions ( ftp://ftp.mirror.ac.uk ) i can download at 820KB constantly, which i reckon is excellent for an 8mb connect package. But if i go to microsoft and download SP2 for XP it reaches 400KB, most speed test sites are struggling to hit 400KB, other websites ati for example, i get 400KB. is this simply that this is as fast as these sites can upload or some other reason?

Could be the bandwidth from their servers that is limiting your speed.
If you are getting 820KB from Wheelies link I would be pretty pleased with that
Better than you would ever of had on PN tho~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~

Yep the ftp I post very rarely gets hammered and so makes for a far better speed test than anything but websites and especially the MS one gets hammered all the time, from memory MS do have a public ftp server where you could get things like the SP2 from so use an ftp client and have a look

Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.
