Poor Speed
Hi,
I have just been activated (within the last hour) and the speeds are sub-par, as I have the Sky Unlimitied package. Below are my stats:
ADSL Link: Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed: 4095 kbps 605 kbps
Line Attenuation: 20.5 db 9.8 db
Noise Margin: 15.8 db 18.7 db
What's going on?

Re: Poor Speed
Have you read your welcome letter? Assuming you got one you might wanna read the last paragraph stating you start @ 4Mbps and have a 10-day bedding in process

Just click the blue links in Smthy's post and it is quite clearly explained, even for a woman.

Re: Poor Speed
Sorry to bump but my bb speed has been decreasing then fluxuating back then decreasing again, my maximum speed reached so far was 3mbps for litterally 2 seconds then my maximum beyond that is 800kb/s
I am on 20 MB/s connection (sky unlimited)
Surely I should get higher speeds than that? I live in quite a small suburb so I don't think there would be many people sharing my line.
and from my wireless receiver, It would seem most people are with BT / Virgin anyway.
I was trying to download stuff and only got 70 kb/s today... and when i done a speed test (speedtest.net) i got 60kb/s download speed
(that was best of 3, the worst was 30kb/s)

Re: Poor Speed
Unplug the router and then take the stats again. You should also do this from the TEST socket (see my link for detail above if required).
You would also be better doing this on your own thread.

Re: Poor Speed
Thank you for the quick reply.
I unplugged the ADSL thing (to ask if we had any spares as after browsing the forum a bit more I read suggestions to try new adsl splitters.)
When I plugged it in, I used the phone to see if it was in right, and I noticed the phone wasn't receiving the Dial tone, so I pushed the wire about until the dial tone came on, and tested again.
here is speed test now.
it seems that it is a problem with the box, but I am still (with the exception to test #2) getting less that 4Mbit, Shouldn't the speed be a bit quicker than that? my mate has the same package and he hits 8mb/s download speeds.
