Connection speed dropped
I used to have a connection speed of around 3Mb, but now I'm lucky to get 1Mb. It dropped off a few months ago.
Any ideas how/why this might have happened?
Cheers!

Here's the results when connected to the Test Socket - pretty similar:

Re: Connection speed dropped
That shows that your internal wiring is causing a lo of noise. You need to fit a filtered faceplate and run the router from it.

Re: Connection speed dropped
Thanks, I'll give that a go.
Looking through the forums, it looks like this one
XTE-2005 Filtered Master Faceplate - ADSL Nation
is what I should go for. Is that right?
Also, when I fit the filtered socket, should my broadband speed improve by itself, or will I need to do something (like contact Sky)?
Also, why would this cause my speed to drop, when it used to be higher and I haven't changed anything?
(Sorry if these are stupid questions - I'm a noob at this stuff, and know naught about telephone wiring and that).Last edited by fatmick; 16-03-10 at 09:56 PM. Reason: more questions!

Re: Connection speed dropped
When you connect to the TEST socket you take any extension wiring out of the circuit,
see how your noise margin so so much higher in the Test socket? , this shows something is putting noise on your line when not in the test socket, this is likely to be extension wiring feeding other sockets around the home and/or you have sockets in use that don't have a working micro-filter connected first into them.
So once you fit a pre filtered faceplate this will eliminate this noise problem, you will need to call sky once this is done as your line is now capped at 1mb due to the wiring problems.

Re: Connection speed dropped
That's very imformative. Thanks guys for your help. I'll post back how I get on when I've fitted the faceplate.
