You should see 10-12mb. The higher the noise margin the better for the moment as it means you can get faster speeds.
Try getting your stats from the TEST socket also. (How to test your ADSL in the Master Socket)

Re: Day 1 help please
Thanks Smithy. I am using the main socket which has an “openreach” on it
after a day, my router stats changed again. now i am getting 8189kbps.
any idea? was it to do with the DLM?
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8189 kbps 725 kbps

Re: Day 1 help please
Yes, DLM will track the change and keep increasing the speed until the noise margin hits around 7db and the line is stable.

Re: Day 1 help please
DLM trains both up and download. Your upload looks a bit suspect, if you have extensions, try it in the Test socket and take the stats. If it is an Openreach, you should have one.

Re: Day 1 help please
Moved it to the main test socket and changed couple of spliters... finally got
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8189 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 36 db 19 db
Noise Margin 14 db 16 db
hopefully the DLM will boost some tomorrow.

Re: Day 1 help please
That looks a lot better. Can you keep it there or get a filtered faceplate fitted?

Re: Day 1 help please
A filtered faceplate isolates all the internal wiring, which is causing interference and reducing your speed. You can't do that with a plug in filter. They are available from many sources, this is just one -
