New user, bad speeds and some router stats.....

The title says it all really

Recently moved house and went with Sky.. I'm beginning to regret it

      Here are my stats..

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2112 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 62.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 7.6 db 16.0 db

Now.... during the off peak I'm seeing around 200k, but in the evening it's dreadful... sometimes down to 9k/sec and the speed is alway erratic... 150k down to 6k upto 90k down to 15k over and over.

Is there anything I can do / should be doing?

I've fitted a faceplate to isolate wiring, that increased my downstream connection speed by around 500kbps so well worth doing...

I'm not sure if it's the new house or the change in broadband provider

I think I'm on Sky Connect... would upgrading help?

      Cheers!

H you are on connect the 448kbps upstream indicates that and the connect package is a Bt re-badged max product and there is no upgrade the issues at night is due to traffic shaping 5pm till Midnight sorry about that if you look at your exchange and see if there is any LLU http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-b...e-checker.html The first post explains and if you click on the link and follow the instruction from there.

      Thanks guys,

Seeing as I've only just joined them.. is it realistic to expect to be able to change ISPs?

Can I say it's not fit for use?

Hi yes to both because it is not fit for use sometimes. The issue is the connect package is over subscribed. first do you have LLU at your exchange if not you could have a look on here Broadband from 4.99 - Compare Best Broadband Deals, Packages & UK Broadband Providers

You have a very long line so you are not going to get any more speed, no matter what ISP you go to. However, few are as badly throttled as Sky Connect. Ask for your MAC and get out as soon as you can.
