      Which speed tests to believe?

I am a non technical Sky Max BB user through a Netgear DG834GT router.

My download speed according to the speed test on this Sky User forum is coming up as 8,000 kbps, some other ADSL speed test at about 6,500 kbps, but with the BBMax test is registering around 14,500 kbps. Which am I to believe, as my internet download performance is not as quick, particularly when opening web pages, as I would expect?

I note also that the Sky Test on router logon is coming up with an Error 200 - 'the Sky Test was unable to detect the Internet connection' - the same router that is telling me that I have a 17,023 kbps download connection and 989 kbps upload connection??

      Any thoughts would be appreciated.

What are your router stats as they are the true readings we need to see. Speed tests depend on server load and routing and can throw some very strange results.

Do you mean router stats over and above the connection speeds quoted above?

Does the Error 200 router message 'Sky Test was unable to detect the Internet connection' have any bearing?

Hi have a look at the link half way down page Sky error codes explained http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-b....html#post8398

The only thing about speed is it fluctuates never constant someone who can give you more information will. Skyuser Speed tester is a good one, every speed tester I have tried I have never had the same result. hope this has been of some use.
