speed tests and stats for gaming

      hello everyone,
can someone tell me if these stats are ok for my connection for gaming on xbox360. Im on the sky max package and I fitted a filtered face plate a while back and I phoned sky a year ago for my maximum delays reduced. The reason Im asking is I read about sky increasing the speeds from 16 to 20 download and increasing the upload although I havent seen any increase on my speeds. I seem to host alot on mw2 but other players seem to complain about lag when Im the host I think I did everything you guys recommened a while back but I have no idea about interpreting the stats any advice would be welcome!!!

      thanks!!!!!

Remove the faceplate and get the stats again from the test socket beneath it. You should be doing better with your attenuation.

Also, when you have removed the faceplate, check all the other phone sockets in the house are dead.

      Cheers for the reply smithy!

I removed the adsl nation filtered faceplate but the router cable which plugs into the adsl plug point on the faceplate is a different plug to what plugs into the bt test socket inside so I cant check it but all phone lines are dead when the face plate is removed because the phone extensions are wired to the back of the faceplate the only phone line that plugs in to the front of the face plate goes to the sky+ box so in theory I could disconnect the sky+ box and use that cable to the router if you think the test socket would make much difference although I thought that was why I was told to buy the faceplate in the first place.

Previously on these forums I was told I was on GDMT I think it was called I was told this was best for me not ADSL2 am I still on it and is it still the best for my connection?

Plug a filter into the test socket first and then plug the router into that. Failing that, the cable from the Sky receivers modem will fit both.

Filter ah now I feel stupid how simple! I need to hunt one down as they were all made redundant what with that face plate.

Re: speed tests and stats for gaming

That is still poor given your attenuation, you must have a poor line.

It may be worth contacting Sky and just ensure that you are still on G.dmt as it will work better.

When you have the filter in the test socket, can you hear any noise on the line (just press one number on the phone and listen), you should only hear a faint hiss.
