However, that won't be available until 2012, they then have to persuade "The Market" that upgrading these small exchanges will be profitable. A Tory spokesperson said that competition will open up these exchanges. What world do these people inhabit. They also admitted that 2017 was a likely target date if the ISPs are interested - bloody ridiculous.

Hi yes just been reading about it on Thinkbroadband. The thing is do labour think they will get back in or is it something that they might try and use if they get back in to power. The North East do not get the full Digital Switch over until 2012. It is true that they have no idea at all. who ever gets in by 2017 they will be begging or paying ISPs to take over small exchanges. I don`t know whether to be or

I didn't think that was going to get anywhere. Apart from the fact that it would not raise nearly enough money, the majority of users already get 2Mb or better, why would they want to pay for those who can't. I don't have town gas, but I don't expect everyone who has to chip in to pay for piping it out to me.

The problem is who ever is going to run the country they have already stated thinkbroadband :: Conservatives plan to reverse 50p broadband tax
It is important to note that the above does not affect the Universal Service Commitment of 2Mbps which is expected to be available across the country in 2012.

Re: Is Sky Connect now the worst BB product in the UK ?

ive recently noticed an improvement in my peak time speeds (hope not speakin too soon) but here we are on a friday evening @ 10.30pm & im getting between 1.5/3.5 meg which is a marked improvement on my usual 512kbps speeds usually experienced during peak times, has sky finally started to do something to help connect customers or is my speed increase due to a recently installed 7 tweak app and me changing the default 20% reserved bandwith for qos & bits {changed values to 5% in group policy editor) i have gotten a 1 meg increase recently during off peak i used to get at best 3 meg, now during off peak im almost touching 4 meg, i read in another post that sky had done some work up here in scotland so im hoping that is the cause of my speed increase, the main difference is during throttling hours, i cant believe that here now on a friday evening im getting @ 10.30pm =

im impressed usually id be lucky to get 512kbps i hope it continues and i hope sky get their house in order i was on the verge of askin for a mac code but ill hold off for now as long as i can get enuff bandwith to stream
      friday 11pm = Download Speed: 3365 kbps (420.6 KB/sec ) Upload Speed: 303 kbps (37.9 KB/sec )

Its good but... for gaming not so much. My friend always has a Strict NAT on BT but never had a Strict NAT with O2 but the strange thing is that it only went strict until it had become a couple of months in.
