With regards your wireless speed. Try changing the channel in your router. As you are not using a Sky router I can't tell you how to do it, but it will be somewhere in the Wireless settings. You might also want to download Inssider, from the link below. This will show the networks in your neighbourhood and the channels they are using. Try a channel as far from those in use as possible. Remember that 12- and 13 are usable channels.

Re: Slow internet
I have used the inssider and it tells me that there are no other wireless networks within range.
To add more detail it is not the download speed itself that is slow now but more the browsing speed when surfing the web, it seems to be so slow. Could it be the router? which is a belkin n+ router btw

Re: Slow internet
Take note of your stats as soon as the browsing seems sluggish. It may be that your SNR is dropping, causing errors which in turn kills your throughput.

If you can, plug in a cable and do a speedtest on Sky User - Broadband Speed Tester it is pointless trying it with wireless until you establish what your possible speed is.

Re: Slow internet
Yes i do have an edimax 7728in wireless n adapter in my pc which i thought would work. I wonder if the router might be slowing things down, do you think i should try the old router which sky gave me?

Re: Slow internet
You can try it if you want to, but in theory the N router should be better. I would run through all the channels and test them before swapping routers. You should also check that you have the latest manufacturers drivers for your card. The latest driver is here - ::: EDIMAX Technology :::
One thing I am not sure of is if the Edimax adapter is compatible with your router. Both are Draft N and being Draft means, as they come from different manufacturers, they are not necessarily compatible. If it is possible with your router change the mode to G only and see if that improves it. Both should definitely be compatible with the G standard.

Re: Slow internet
I have switched to only using G and it does seem to make surfing the web more stable and in most cases faster on loading websites. There is a side effect tho and that is my download speed seems to have dropped down to pretty much nothing.
Is that right?

Re: Slow internet
Have you done as I suggested and tried different channels? It is hard to see how your browsing speed should improve and your download drop to nothing. What speedtester are you using? Have you tried a wired speedtest? What is your wireless speed on Sky User - Broadband Speed Tester
