Problems with my Connections speed
Hi, My internet connection has been disgustingly slow recently even though i'm on the unlimited 20MB package and i was wondering if there was any solutions as when i phoned tech support they were told me nothing i didn't already know and i was to deal with it pretty much.
Since i've had Sky up until about a month ago i've been downloading at about 100kb/s up to 500kb/s but averaged around the 150 mark. It's slow but i was able to deal with it as it meant streaming was done with no interuptions on the whole. However, recently my download speeds have been at 30kb/s and no higher, no lower.
My router stats are :
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 378 kbps 718 kbps
Line Attenuation 56.5 db 31.3 db
Noise Margin 5.0 db 9.0 db
and when i went on speedtest.net these were the results:
I checked what it said my line should be getting and it said "2Mb" but i've never gotten that and i'm not too fussed as i live in a very rural area. However after phoning tech support all they said was "The maximum connection speed you can get is 0.30mb/s download and 0.70mb/s upload, and this will be permanent" but they didn't explain why it has become this way so suddenly. I was wondering if there was any solution/help you guys could give me to at least get my connection back to the speed it was, All help is very much appreciated and thank you in advance.

Re: Problems with my Connections speed
Make sure that your router and any other equipment you have connected in your phone sockets is via a microfilter. Check to see if you have your Sky box connected to the phone line it isn't plugged in before the microfilter.

Re: Problems with my Connections speed
I'm assuming the "ADSL filter" I put in my phone socket before plugging in my router is the Microfilter? If so, I've had that in always.

Re: Problems with my Connections speed
Ok, let's start from the beginning.
Can you get your stats again but this time from the TEST socket (see my sig for details). Also remember that every phone socket in the house must have a filter in it first too.
You should be getting 2-3mb with your attenuation easily so there is a problem with noise somewhere.
Can you also explain your phone setup, how may sockets and how you are connected etc.

Re: Problems with my Connections speed
Another case of an unsuitable line being moved to ADSL2+.
Call Sky and ask them to move your line back to G.DMT.
Trying the Test socket will not hurt. You may have poor internal wiring.
