Am I expecting too much?
Hi
I've always been a bit disappointed with my speeds on Sky everyday:
Speed 3067 kbps 604 kbps
Line Attenuation 49 db 32 db
Noise Margin 13 db 15 db (taken from the test socket)
I'm 20km (as the crow flies) away from the exchange.
Is this good?

Re: Am I expecting too much?
If you are actually 20km from the exchange which I think unlikely! then that would explain your slow speeds, But most people live within 4 - 5 miles of an exchange. Put your phone number in the samknows.com web site and it will tell you more about your local exchange.

Re: Am I expecting too much?
You should get about another 2Mb. If your normal router position shows a lower noise margin then your internal wiring is a fault. Keep it in the test socket and phone Sky and ask them to lift the cap on your line. If they do then you can make permanent changes to your wiring.

Re: Am I expecting too much?
I rang Sky - It seems I did have a cap. I now get:
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5024 kbps 512 kbps
Line Attenuation 52 db 31 db
Noise Margin 7 db 16 db
nice!
